Inspection & Adaptation
For the past few weeks, I have been discussing with many colleagues on Inspection and Adaptation within the agile organisations.
Today, I will share my thoughts on one of the Agile principle.
“At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.”
My coach and mentor Dinesh Sharma always talks about Adaptability is the essence of agility. It is all about inspecting what we doing as a team and adapting to the changes we need to make. In high performing teams and organisations fully submerged into Agile values and principles, teams inspect and adapt very quickly because teams have the autonomy to do what and when change is needed.
Teams inspect and adapt anytime there is a need and make the changes. Those teams do not wait for the retro time. They inspect and adapt daily either using Daily Scrum (if using Scrum) or by collaborating it together.
The Agile principle above mentions “At regular intervals”, a regular interval to me is any interval team decides or whenever they need to e.g. Daily Scrum or during Retrospective if they are using Scrum or anytime after Daily Scrum when one of the team members finds a need to inspect. Trusting the team and having psychological safety in the team/organisation is key to this.
What do you think? Please post in the comments and we all can discuss it together.
